This was a one-off show which ran from 9.30 to midday on Sunday 02 April 1989 showcasing what you can do with all the latest computers and software around at the time. A two hour update was given at 11.00pm that night.

Alistair was invited to write the show's signature theme and appear on the programme alongside John Chalk who created the show's graphics. The Software Show was presented by Carol Vorderman who has given permission for her video footage to be shown on alistairjohnston.com.

The original soundtrack was created using a BBC Micro hooked up to Hybrid Technology's Music 5000 synthesizer:
